WINTER'S SOVEREIGNTY, a poem

When Winter's sovereignty complete
Has left us not a leaf to cull,
Then come the feathery snow and sleet:
So God doth love the beautiful!

"Winter's Sovereignty" by Florence Earle Coates. Above as published in The Era Magazine, February 1903. Subsequently published as "Compensation" in Mine and Thine (1904) and Poems (1916) Volume II.
